Florida Sheriff Chad Chronister either withdrew or had his intended nomination as DEA administrator pulled by Trump after facing backlash for enforcing Florida’s pandemic prohibition on public gatherings against a mega pastor who ignored the law at the height of the pre-vaccine pandemic, reports Associated Press. He was also criticized for 2023 video statement in which he spoke of the “rich diversity” of his community and called it “a place where people from all walks of life come together”. He reportedly said in the video that his office does not target individuals based on immigration status and leaves enforcement of federal immigration laws to the feds. After the Sheriff announced he was withdrawing from consideration, Trump publicly claimed that the Sheriff did not withdraw but Trump pulled his nomination because he “did not like what he said to my pastors and other supporters”, according to AP.
